Contact Kevin J. Oursland if You Face Criminal Charges

I am a former prosecutor with more than 13 years of experience representing people charged with state and federal crimes in Nebraska. For more information about a criminal charge, click on the heading:

DUI Defense

Driving under the influence of alcohol is the most commonly committed crime in Nebraska and the United States as a whole. A conviction has significant personal consequences, such as fines, the potential for jail time, and suspension of your driver's license.

Drug Charges

Even if you do not face significant jail time, any drug conviction will result in a permanent criminal history. Today, everyone from employers to landlords and insurance companies conduct background checks and a drug conviction will count against you.

Assault Charges

Self defense and the defense of others are possible defenses in assault cases. If you have an explanation for the fight, that can also be used to mitigate sentencing.

Domestic Violence Charges

If the police are called to your home and find any evidence that a domestic assault has occurred — such as a mark on someone's cheek or a statement from the victim — someone is going to jail.

Sexual Assault

Few accusations are more devastating — or harder to defend — than being accused of a sex crime such as date rape or child molestation. Even if you are acquitted, the accusation alone can have a damaging effect on your family and your reputation.

Internet Sex Crimes

An increasing number of sex crimes either take place or have their origin on the Internet. Unfortunately for the accused, computer records can be a powerful witness against you.

Theft, Robbery and Burglary Charges

A conviction for any theft crime will result in a permanent criminal history. A prospective employer conducting a background check on you may not hire you once they find out you were convicted of a crime involving dishonesty.

Traffic Ticket Defense

Every ticket carries a certain number of points on your driver's license. If you accumulate 12 or more points over a two-year period, you face the possible suspension of your driver's license.
